4 Ways to Use Social Media to Amplify Your Content

Using Social Media to Amplify Your Content.

Most people are aware of the value in using social media to announce when you’ve posted new information to your blog.  However, the real value is creating a social media routine that you use with every piece of content to increase your chances of having your work read and some level of interaction with your readers.  Adding in a few enhanced features to your routine will help build even more exposure for your blog so you can drive even more traffic to your web site.

Here are 4ways to augment the readership of your blog posts with your social media routine.

1. Use Twitter to tweet your post.  With Twitter, the key here is to be sure to use a url shortener so that you have plenty of characters left to add the link to your content and the appropriate #hashtags.  I agree that twitter is a tool that may be a little harder for some to use, however, there is real value in using this tool to drive traffic to your content.  (There is a document on my web site that helps to explain how to use twitter for your business.  You can download it here.)

2. Use both your personal and business Facebook page to announce your blog posts.  For many of us, we have a great engagement happening on our personal pages, but far less on our business pages.  In this case, I would suggest that you use post to your business page and then share from your personal page to maximize the opportunity for your network to the content that you’re providing.

3. Update your LinkedIn status with your blog posts.  I think everyone knows how to perform this basic function but when you do this, don’t forget to publish to the groups that you also belong to.  The groups that you belong to include people that are not part of your immediate connections so you can increase the level of readership this way.  If you don’t already belong to very many groups, do some research and find some additional groups where your content will have merit.

4. Publish your content to Google+.  Many people don’t yet understand the value of Google+ for business, however, if we consider only the fact that Google itself is a dominant search engine, and that what gets shared on Google+ will come in Google searches, that should be reason enough for most small businesses to start using Google+.

Taking the time to create valuable and educational content is important to establish yourself as an expert in your industry.  The more you write about your industry, the more of an expert you become.  But it’s also important to take some steps to ensure what you’re writing gets out there.  Create a simple social media routine like this one to amplify your content.

And if you have other amplification tools that work well for you, we’d love to hear them.  Feel free to share them in the comments section below.
